The airbnb we booked was absolutely great, with an amazing balcony with views over the port, and we spent much of our time on that, sunbathing or playing cards at the table or listening to 80s music and watching the lighthouse flash in the distance.  The apartment was also in the middle of the old town, so going out to do any kind of errand meant walking through its maze of winding streets, accidentally going the wrong way and seeing some more of the beautiful city.  Bari has so much history but the old town is still very much a place where people live, and after dark it really came alive - people sat out on the street on their own chairs, and filled up the restaurants and bars every night I was there. Days 76-77

Sleeping location: Dahab Divers, Dahab, Egypt Distance (km today/total): 0 / 6131 Estimated climb (m today/total): 0 / 54700 Dives: 5 Day in three words: Dahab, why not? A couple of days spent lazing by the beach, diving, eating nice food and drinking beers on the terrace of “Churchills sports bar and grill”*. Rebecca and I did two dives together on the first day, then on the second she decided against it and I did another three solo. She instead went snorkelling at a random location along the shore, and it was a great surprise to both of us when she happened to be directly above me when I surfaced from a dive. The reefs around here are super beautiful and have tons of interesting fishies, and I really enjoyed the diving; I also feel like my technique has really come on since I’ve been here. Date: 21 April 2023 Sleeping location: N/A Distance (km today/total/total Part 2): 26  / 23552 / 8715 Estimated climb ( m  t oday/total/ tot a l   Part  2):  200  / 2244 00 / 106400 Literal metaphor of the day: blood, sweat and tears Day in two words: The end* The morning provided a beautiful view all around the bay, low cloud over the mountains of two days ago and the sun peeking through. I had such a confusing swirl of emotions over breakfast. Is it an anticlimax? I had always been certain that I'd do it, so there's no jeopardy. No final push, because there are no time constraints. All of the drama and difficulty has come already. There's nothing to beat here, no clock, nobody else, just a casual 25km cycle on smooth tarmac on a relatively light bike with nice weather.
